I give No Cats Allowed 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). The mystery was interesting, but it was child's play to solve (I kept hoping for a good twist at the end, but there was not one). I liked the characters in the book (there are a lot of them) and Diesel, the cat. I have not read any of the other books in the series, but I will definitely be reading them now.

No cats Allowed may be the seventh book in the series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. Can Charlie figure out who the killer is and stay out of harm’s way? I enjoyed reading No Cats Allowed. Charlie may not last long on the job when someone tries to put him out of commission. Then Charlie is asked to step in as the new interim director. When Charlie's friend and co-worker, Mabel Gilley is accused of the crime, Charlie starts investigating. But then Oscar Reilly turns up dead in the basement (crushed with shelving). When Charlie is asked to leave Diesel at home, Charlie decides to take a leave of absence. Unfortunately, Oscar Reilly is going out of his way to alienate everyone on the staff including Charlie Harris and his Maine Coon cat, Diesel. There is a new interim director at the Athena College Library.

No Cats Allowed by Miranda James is the seventh book in A Cat in the Stacks Mystery series.
